Jackson & Grand Tetons Skate & Multisport

“I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery — air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, ‘This is what it is to be happy.”
Sylvia Plath

Grand Teton National Park is full of snow-capped peaks, pristine lakes, and some of the West’s most amazing wild animals. The area is brimming with recreation opportunities! From rejuvenating morning skating, panoramic hikes, casual group bike rides, a rafting excursion and even a tram ride to nearly 10,500 feet; rest assured, there’s no shortage of adventure on this tour! Each day offers you a chance to explore the area at your own pace.

Let the vastness of the Tetons transport you worlds away from the hustle and bustle of everyday while you enjoy alpine lakes, smooth skating and cycling paths, or a rugged trail in the wilderness. In the afternoons, you’ll be rewarded with delicious food, camaraderie, and the memories of a lifetime. A bonus on this trip is that because there is so much to explore in a small area, we stay in the same hotel for four nights and we don’t spend very much time shuttling in the vans each day! Let us take care of all the details; your only task is to have the adventure you’ve been dreaming of for years!

Trip Favorite Moments & Reviews

“There wasn’t just one favorite moment. The mountains are my favorite place, so being able to skate AND have the mountains is incredible. The trails are awesome!”

Mary P.

There are too many favorite moments to pin down just one… the setting is incomparable, and we had great weather. The group got along well, the guides were the best trip guides EVER, the food was great, and oh, can I mention the amazing Tetons again?? I was grinning so much all week I probably should have put sunscreen on my teeth!

Trip Highlights

  • Discover breathtaking Grand Teton National Park by foot and on skates
  • Skate along flat, paved trails with incredible mountain views
  • Explore the Snake River two ways: first by bike along a riverside path, then on a guided raft trip
  • Enjoy camaraderie, good eats, and western hospitality
Day 1

We meet at our downtown Jackson hotel after lunch and depart directly for our introductory hike, where you can choose to acclimate to the altitude with an easy short hike or a longer more moderate hike. Awaken your senses and immerse yourself in the natural beauty on a quiet stroll with views of the Teton Mountains. Our hikes take us along a creek, a lakeshore, and through aspen and conifer forests, wetlands and sagebrush meadows, Tonight we’ll have a casual food truck dinner and then kick up our heels at “Sunday Church” with the Stagecoach Band at the Stagecoach Bar, a Jackson Hole institution since 1942.

Day 2

Today is a day of skating (or biking) and hiking. Our morning roll is on a long, flat paved trail, again with incredible views of the Tetons! You’ll have to pinch yourself, since you will have a hard time believing you’re in such a beautiful place. We’ll enjoy lunch at Dornan’s and then head into the Park for a boat ride across Jenny Lake and a hike to a beautiful waterfall. (You also have the option of kayaking, canoeing or stand up paddle boarding on your own instead of hiking.) Tonight, we’ll have dinner at the Rendezvous, and optional dancing at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, an iconic Jackson joint that is as western as it gets!

Day 3

This morning we cycle a 22-mile loop that will take us across the Snake River Valley and back, with the stunning backdrop of the Tetons to motivate our pedaling. You’ll want to be sure you pack your camera today! After the ride we shuttle into Grand Teton National Park for a guided raft trip down the Snake River. You’ll enjoy the relaxing float with interpretive commentary about the Park’s flora, fauna and history, as well as the Park’s breathtaking scenery. Dinner tonight is family style at Glorietta’s Trattoria, right behind our hotel.

Day 4

Today we shuttle to Teton Village (Jackson Hole Ski Area) where we skate or bike along a beautiful, new and flat trail all the way to Wilson and back. You are guaranteed to see a moose on this trail (okay, some of them might be fake, but it will still be exciting)! After lunch at Teton Village (perhaps at the Mangy Moose), we ride the tram to the top of the mountain (almost 10,500 feet) where you will have a variety of hikes and mileages to choose from. Take the tram back down, or hike the 4,000 feet to the base of the mountain if your knees can take it! Our final dinner will be at the Granary, with the most scenic sunset views possible.

Day 5

We save the best for last! Today we skate or bike north directly from our hotel on a brand new paved path. On the way, we skate past the National Museum of Wildlife Art, the National Elk Refuge, and into Grand Teton National Park for our last time. We get you back to the hotel in time to shower and check out before setting everyone loose for lunch in Jackson. We will provide an airport shuttle (arriving at 1:30 PM) for those who are flying home today. There is still so much more to do in the area, we recommend you stay for at least a couple more days!

Weather

Jackson is located in the mountains so the weather can change very quickly.  You will want to bring layers no matter what time of year you are visiting as even in the middle of summer the temperatures can swing from mid-70s during the day to mid-30s at night.

Extending Your Vacation

It is worth arriving early to acclimate yourself to the area and spend an extra day in the town of Jackson. If you have enough time, we recommend renting a car to visit nearby Yellowstone National Park. You might consider flying into Jackson and out of Bozeman, Montana.

Ability Level

This Adventure is rated For All Abilities. No experience is necessary, everything is optional, and we have multiple skating, biking and hiking routes of varying difficulties. Please note Jackson is at an altitude of 6,900 feet which is high enough so you will feel out of breath when exercising but not so high that you should have any problems.

Changes to Your Itinerary

While everything under “What is Included” will remain the same, the actual restaurants, hotels, and activities listed in our itineraries are subject to modifications. Changes that are out of our control are common – a restaurant closes or loses its awesome chef, a winery changes its visiting hours, a hotel gets remodeled, a road or trail undergoes construction. You are entrusting us to create an outstanding vacation for you and so it is possible we may take the liberty of making necessary changes (even at the last minute, during the guides’ scout trip) to the itinerary that will improve your overall trip experience. If there is any one experience that is going to make or break your trip, please discuss this with us in advance! We will attempt to keep our website itinerary as current as possible and communicate any major changes with you in the weeks prior to the tour.
